Commercial construction

On a commercial program every trade is waiting on the one before it. Labour gaps compound.

Commercial construction runs on sequence. Fitouts and refurbishments in particular are scheduled trade-on-trade, often in occupied or partially occupied buildings, with access windows that can’t be renegotiated. When a trade is short two people on Tuesday, the delay doesn’t stay in Tuesday — it pushes into every discipline scheduled behind it, and the recovery usually costs more than the original gap.

That’s the specific problem labour hire solves in this sector. Not cheaper labour — reliable labour, available at the point the program needs it.

We supply the trades commercial builders call for most: carpenters and formworkers, concreters and steel fixers, painters and tilers, plus the general labour and trades assistance that keeps qualified people doing qualified work rather than moving materials.

Access and induction matter more here than on open sites. Workers arrive briefed on what your induction covers, with tickets verified and PPE in hand, so the first morning isn’t spent at the gate.

What commercial principal contractors ask us for

Commercial sites, particularly those run by tier-one and larger tier-two contractors, carry documentation requirements that catch smaller labour suppliers out. Current white cards, high-risk work licences matched to the actual task, evidence of workers’ compensation cover, and worker records available on request.

We hold this documentation for every worker before placement and can supply it when your principal contractor asks — usually at the least convenient moment. Getting it right at placement means you’re not chasing it mid-project.
